Can somebody please shoot me!
Up at 5.15 this morning. At Telford Central for the 7.08 only to find all trains cancelled until gone 9.00 a.m. Staff informed me it was likely to be beyond this as a tree has fallen at Wellington! No replacement buses insight - no alternative but to come back home. Stuck around to hear the one direct London train also gone for a Burton - Ironically that's where it starts out from! Humour!
Rushing like a loon from ends of games now to catch the revised 18.00hrs out of Marylebone - last week cancelled - as was the connection home from Birmingham. Every journey has been a complete nightmare. I rarely get back to my home town now before closing time! No taxis. One firm was bought out by the other. They went on strike on Monday!
Now a customary wait for an hour at night or the equivalent time spent walking home. About 160 drivers lost. New firm started up, about 25 drivers on to date!
Missed the Taunton home game. Those close know I am presently a tad unwell - not apparently life-threatening - so some good news! Felt unwell. Turned around at Moor St. Would have struggled as a late train would now have connected as planned with a bus replacement between Wycombe and Aylesbury.
No longer able to have a post match drink in Shrewsbury as the last train has not been re-instated. Had the odd pint in Wolverhampton. If you want a depressing night out, think Wolves. All the pubs decked out in Wolves atire. No real ale - I'm in hell!
Just back home around 8.30, about half an hour ago. Travel wise, this season is beyond all hope.
I expect the lads to win today - looking forward to the Met. And yes, God willing, I may actually get there!
Enjoy the game! As your getting up - I'm going back to bed!
