I don?t have time to check this thoroughly, but I believe Dave Diedhiou is the first Hendon player to appear for the first team in every year of a decade. I don?t think this has happened since Bill Fisher and Laurie Topp in the 1950s.

Rod Haider appeared in the first team every year from his debut in August 1967 until his last appearance for the club in November 1979, so he appeared for the first team in every year of the 1970s.

Micky Cooper was close, appearing every year bar one from his debut in January 1965 until his final appearance in September 1979 - he didn't play for the first team in 1977.

This does not detract from Dave Diedhiou''s achievement. Should he make another appearance this season, he will join a select band of players who have appeared for the first team in three different decades; off the top of my head, and without checking, I can think of six players who I believe have achieved this in the past.

Edit: make that seven players I can think of who I believe have played first team matches for the club in three different decades.

Second edit: having done some checking, I have found 13 players who have appeared for the first team in three different decades. The list is:

John Baker - 1960s, 1970s, 1980s
Dale Binns - 1990s, 2000s, 2010s
George Bucci - 1920s, 1930s, 1940s
Alan Campbell - 1970s, 1980s, 1990s
Roy Evans - 1930s, 1940s, 1950s
Bill Fisher - 1940s, 1950s, 1960s
Reg Hill - 1930s, 1940s, 1950s
Jerry Marrable - 1930s, 1940s, 1950s
Ted Owen - 1930s, 1940s, 1950s
Jimmy Quail - 1950s, 1960s, 1970s
Alan Roughan - 1970s, 1980s, 1990s
John Swannell - 1960s, 19700s, 1980s
Laurie Topp - 1940s, 1950s, 1960s

Additionally, there is one Hendon footballer who appeared in the County Cricket Championship in FIVE different decades, namely Fred Titmus, who played for Middlesex from 1949 to 1976, and occasionally in 1979, 1980 and 1982; he also played for Surrey in 1978 whilst coaching at The Oval. Fred made just one appearance for the Hendon first team, on 13th November 1950, in a London Challenge Cup semi-final replay away to a Charlton Athletic XI, who won 1-0.

Many thanks for the research Chris. I have been so busy, I didn?t have a chance to do any research work ? oh the joys of home-based freelancing.
