Cups progress - or lack thereof

I was asked at half-time yesterday when was the last season that we played 2 rounds or more in each cup competition we entered. I couldn't answer the question.

Having trawled through my records this afternoon, the answer appears to be 2002-03, when we played 2 rounds in the FA Cup, 3 rounds in the FA Trophy, 5 rounds in the Isthmian League Cup, and 4 rounds in the Middlesex Senior Cup. We didn't enter the London Senior that season - I may be wrong but I think it was intended for clubs of step 4 (Isthmian division 1) or lower.

We also achieved the feat in 2001-02 and 2000-01; I haven't looked back any further than that.

This, therefore, is the 17th successive season in which we have failed to progress in one cup competition or more.

By way of contrast, this has reminded me of the fixture-laden 98-99 season. Still in 5 cups in February; FA Trophy, Isthmian League Cup, Full Members Cup, London Challenge Cup, Middlesex Senior Cup.

2-1 defeat at Marlow in the ILC on 11 Feb was the first to fall. I used to love going to that ground
