I'm impressed

You can see the improvement every home game. I thought today was pivotal. The first time, that I would categorically state that we have had a traditional composition in terms of functional look. Maybe this is going to formulate the commencement of a steadfast line-up. The only negative on the day the goal we let in - asleep at the back, simply quicker to the ball on in at least two instances. Impressed with Stephane in the first 45, the forwards looked fresh, Stephane's side-kick undeniably promising. As we continue to gel, get the central partnership in defence re-jigged back to normalization the wholesale transformation becomes enhanced. Under-pinned by a winning mentality. These lads looked strong today mentally. The desire clearly apparent. In that regard, a shout-out to date for Howie and Chaps at the back. The latter an unsung hero for me this season. Down at Harlow, I thought the lad was outstanding. Cracking set of lad's - absolute top draw application. As for the gaffer, frankly I'm astonished at what the young man as done. Very well done.

I thought we were very good in that second half and could have come away scoring 4 or 5 in the end. Enormous credit to the Staines goalkeeper who made half a dozen genuinely excellent saves throughout the afternoon. Indeed, I thought Staines' performance, particularly first half, belied their struggles so far this season.

Although we'd created plenty in the first half, I felt that we were a little flat, a little lacksidasical at times and that there was a lot more to come. Whatever Jimmy said to them at the break certainly worked.

Impressed by Calcutt, early days yet but I think he could give us a little more than Morgan did. Not only a good target but more mobile and a bigger goal threat. Also thought Bayley Brown slotted in well in the middle of the park when he came on - he gave us a little more control and shape than we've had for much of the season. Have always liked him when he's played against us, the manager's suddenly got a surfeit of options which can only be a good thing.

His namesake, Cole, is a player whose contribution I think has flown under the radar a little - that winner was up there with pretty much anything last season, super strike.

As Rob says above, things are clearly continuing to come together as the manager tweaks. We're stronger now than we were at the beginning of the season - a couple of very big tests on the road in November at Salisbury and Tiverton. Looking forward to them.

Agree that Cole Brown was the bonus in the match. After the horrific tackle against Harrow that put him out of action for so long, I felt he was back to his best on Saturday. For me, he was one of the best pre-season prospects. It was so good to see that sensational goal. With Brayley Brown impressive as soon as came on, the future really does look bright.
