A very encouraging display tonight. The 2-3 scoreline was fair overall, but Tarum Dawkins was only a whisker away from converting André Da Costa's great cross late on, for what would have been a sensational goal, and other late attacks could easily have produced a 3-3 scoreline. Cameron Currie really impressed at left back in the second half. It's early days I know, but the portents for the season look very good.
That is good to hear: I wasn't able to make this game. However, I happened to notice from the Ebbsfleet web site that Tonbridge Angels managed to beat them by the same scoreline a couple of weeks back; although I couldn't say if Ebbsfleet fielded a weaker side that day.
Good game, really enjoyed it. Both sides played some good stuff and we more than held our own in the opening 35 minutes or so.
We still have three or four players to come into the side and I still think we need a bit of work at full-back, but certainly positive signs so far.
That said, after feeling fairly bullish this time last year, I'm not getting too carried away and will reserve judgement overall until the real stuff kicks off in 2 and a half weeks time.
