Billericay Away Travel Issues
Views: 3321
Just a heads up lads and lasses - yet more travel chaos - National Rail are citing Liverpool Street goes as far as Newbury Park then a replacement bus (approx. 30mins) to Billericay. Pre-booked out of Euston for 7.23pm looks nice and tight as usual!

Was debating whether to go to Billericay or Oldham (what an effing choice!) but now I'm definitely having a look at Megabus see if I can get to Oldham cheaply!

That same stretch of line was affected by engineering works for Dulwich's visit to Billericay last season. I got a train to Basildon instead from West Ham (they start from Fenchurch St), then local bus 100 (a frequent service) from the bus station just outside the train station, which enters Billericay from the south and drops you closer to the ground than Billericay train station. I think the stop you need is Sun Street:

I used the replacement bus service from Newbury Park to Ingatestone for our recent Trophy match at Braintree and it was a pain in the neck. There was a massive roadworks for half a mile just outside Newbury Park station too, which didn't help, although that may have finished by now.

Thanks for highlighting this guys. This was on my radar given my day job, but I hadn't got round to double checking which weekends the engineering works were happening. They are happening most weekends on that line between now and the end of May. Hadn't thought of the Basildon route that Pink Panther suggests - one I'd consider if I was travelling by train.
The same works will also disrupt those thinking of travelling by train to AFC Sudbury on 25th March - but I can't identify a sensible alternative to the dreaded rail replacement bus.
