John Fordham.

Does anyone have any news regarding John's progress back to recovery following his hospitalisation around Christmas time? John was my comrade on the terraces at Claremont Road for some years around the late nineties, and a work colleague for almost 20 years, but unfortunately I lost contact with him since he retired.

There was a piece about John Fordham in the programme for the Wingate & Finchley match on 28th January, as follows:
"NEWS ON JOHN FORDHAM
"As most of you will know John was taken into hospital over the Christmas period having suffered a serious stroke. The latest news we have is that he is making slow but steady recovery, his speech and mobility remain seriously impaired and this week he is expecting to be moved from Ealing Hospital to a specialist rehabilitation unit at Northwick Park. Our very best wishes go out to John and everyone at Hendon hopes to see him back here in the very near future."
I'm sure that if there is further news it will be included in a future match programme or on the website or both.

Thanks very much for the update. I wasn't at the Wingate & Finchley match so I was none the wiser. Cheers.

I am John's brother and very much appreciate your enquiry. John is currently in Ealing Hospital after suffering a severe stroke last December. He is waiting transfer to a specialist unit at Clay Ponds where we very much hope he can make significant progress. He has already improved his speech and has some strength back in his left side. He has told me that he has received a card from Gary and the team and intends replying when he is able. I guess both John and the team he follows so ardently have much work to do over the next few months and hopefully he will be able to see Hendon stay up and resume supporting them next season.
Again myself and the rest of our family appreciate your support.

Thanks very much for the update Bob. We have actually met: I remember speaking to you with John on the Claremont Road terraces some time around the turn of the millennium. I very much look forward to seeing him back at SJP, for what I believe will be I'm sure, Premier Division games. Best wishes to yourself and John.
P.S. Nice gesture by Gary and the team.
