Congratulations to Casey

Congratulations to Casey Maclaren on reaching the 300-appearance landmark for Hendon against Wembley last night. His versatility is amazing as I can recall him playing as a right-back, left-back, part of two and three-man central defensive units, defensive, holding and attacking midfield roles – also as a wide man – and in one- two- and three-man attacks. He even had a mad 15 minutes in goal – Easter Monday at Bognor Regis in 2014 after Danny McNicholas was sent off.

Casey joins Dave Diedhiou in this club and, when Kevin Maclaren makes another eight appearances, that will make a trio of 300-games men at the club at one time, something that hasn’t happened since the 1970s or 1980s. The list of Hendon players with 300 appearances is disappointingly short, only 16 since we joined the Isthmian League.

Here’s to many more Casey, and thank you for your efforts and loyalty to us.

Agreed. The achievements of Casey and the other long serving players are remarkable in today's game that is obsessed with short-termism.
