Hendon's reward for 3 good wins is an away tie to National League side Boreham Wood who are the worst but one supported side in that league. Will be lucky to get 500 at the game, so unless we can pull off a miracle little more reward can be expected for our efforts.
We've had a good run and who knows what will happen as football is a funny old game.
Cup heroics aside, the squad must keep their concentration and start performing in the Ryman League - where at best our form and commitment to date has been poor.
Come on you Greens.

Thinking about going to the game. Should I? :-)
Expenditure for the trip:
£16 get in
£6 return from Hendon to Boreham Wood and Elstree stn
£10 Fish and Chips and possible pint before hand.
so spending just over £30 or spend nothing and stay at home...what would you do?

To relieve the Terrace boredom of a sunlit summer evening Pre-Season game way back in 1982 at Boreham Wood, I can well remember our future Chairman Simon and a few of us others trying do brilliant impersonations of the rather unique Bowling actions of the old Derbyshire Spin Bowler Fred Swarbrook. Sometimes we had to make our own entertainment. Great memories though.

Mark, was that the same night Simon regaled us with his Abdul Qadir impression as well?
It was 'Stars in their Eyes' type stuff..

Haha, Yes It most probably was the epic occasion that our Simon also did his Abdul Qadir run up as well and had us all in fits of laughter just like he always did. He would always light up the Terraces with his great wit and wonderful personality that would brighten up the most bleakest of days at home or away games following the Greens. At times, I also tried and failed with my special Jeff Thomson run up bowling action but pulled a few muscles and could not ride my bike for a fortnight after and not to mention my love life , So following that, at various future boring games, I would simply try the more sedate Phil Edmonds run up and also less of a strain. After giving that up, I would give some running comments during some games of my then speciality " John Bond " Impersonations to anyone who would listen. I can't believe it was nearly all 35 years ago now. You can't take those joyful memories away though. They will stay with me forever.

Pretty sure I can do a Fred Swarbrook. From memory, it was more to do with the pivoting arms in the run up than the action itself (slow left arm).
As for the game. I shall be there.
Wonder if Monty (the dog....not the over-sized lamb) will be allowed in?

Sadly Monty will not be allowed in the ground! I will be there with a number of friends to support our players for a very important match. Don't underestimate how much the team appreciate and need us to turn out and cheer them on!

PF: My obvious answer is spend your hard saved/ earnt money and make the trip to Boreham Wood FC on saturday. If your looking for value for money, Hendon have given a good account of themselves in the last 3 rounds and if you believe in Giant Killing, then this could happen - so you would surely want to be there..?
You could say £40 coach fare to spennymoor in the FA Cup 1st round and admission prices and food would be a lot of outlay, but it's the Cup and thats why it's a fairy tail in the making.
Wetherspoons along the High Street will be welcoming Hendon fans as per my conversation with Borehamwood FC yesterday.
To all those making the trip on saturday - let's be loud and proud of our "little club", as we have been reffered to a number of times this season. Paul & Jake - Your vocal support was well heard at the R&D game, so let's keep the chants clean and witty and together we will make some noise in the away end. Especially for Free kicks and corners. We need to rally the troops so that includes everyone, whether you are sitting in the seats or on the terracing.
See you all on saturday. And if your reading this and haven't made your mind up yet - See you Saturday!

Jim - I am still undecided but I'm thinking about it. I have seen the previous home ties v Cheshunt and Rushden so I know it's been a great run so far. You make a great case for going. Will think more..

I ain't going. £16 for an FA Cup qualifier is a joke, and not one I'll be having anything to do with. I'm going to Northampton v Millwall (£22 by the way, for third tier football)

Not sure if i'm happy or not with the draw. Play with the Maclaren brothers and we will give them a battle, As Mike said, their support is one of the lowest but having just seen on their website that league games they charge £18 Adult, £13 OAP, £8 Under 16's, £4 Under 12's and no discounts for students or unemployed, it's not surprising they don't flock through the turnstiles!
Having said that Hendon will have a say in the admission prices and like Luton away when we played them we decided to charge less and take a larger away following, so as the crowd may only be 500 tops we need to keep prices low IMO.
As soon as details are released, we will do our best to give supporters as much information on train prices etc in the hope that we take a decent following to Borehamwood and hopefully come away smiling.

If I'm being brutally honest, I never really care who we get with regards the draws. It's an emotional irrelevance.
I do like the fact that it is close to home geographically.
You would expect things to get progressively harder. I've experienced at first hand enough FA Cup giant-killing acts to realise that the incentive is always the next round. The perceived gap in league places counts for less than ability and fitness.
I genuinely believe we have an outside chance of a result. Let's give it our best shot.
