Playing squad

Any news on how the squad is shaping up for the new season?

Anyone know what happened with Elliot?
As far as I can recall, he had surgery last season but since then silence.
Is he expected to resume playing or has he had to retire?

I spoke to Elliott before the QPR match last night.
He has strength tests on both legs this Saturday. Assuming s satisfactory result - the strength in each leg has to be within 5% of the other - he hopes to be able to start some running next week. An unsatisfactory result will obviously delay things further.
He can't wait to get back on the field in the green of Hendon, but realises that he cannot rush his comeback. He gave no indication of when he expects to be back; personally I don't expect to see him playing before Christmas at the earliest.

Heard at the Hemel friendly that Elliot MAY be fit around Xmas. Whether he is actually aiming to be fit to play for Hendon, I really don't know but let's hope so.
Talking of the Hemel game, I and a few others, were especially impressed by Spencer McCall. Seemed to be in the right place at the right time and showed some very nice turns and passes in the centre of midfield.
Dale Binns put in a very steady half at left wing back too. I didn't see the Potters Bar game but wonder if we went 3-5-2 in that one too?

Agree about Hemel and Spencer McCall.
We did go 3-5-2 yesterday against Potters Bar too. Performance was a bit more disjointed than Tuesday - but no real alarms. Both our keepers did everything asked of them - couple of decent saves each.
Very early days, but some positive signs so far.

The squad seems to be shaping up really nicely so far. Arthur Lee seems to have some pedigree at Conference South level and according to GMac's twitter feed is a centre half, so hopefully he will go some way to helping with that issue from last season, and Dale Binns feels like a bit of a potential masterstroke. Reading the Wealdstone forum, he seems to have ended last season performing well for them, so he should prove to be a real asset at Ryman Premier level. Really looking forward to see who else puts pen to paper in the coming weeks ahead of the beginning of August!

Encouraging signings so far. Very pleased to have Berkeley back and it will be nice to see Binnsy again. I'm sure Kezie will be relieved to no longer being the elder statesman.

Kezie never has been "the elder statesman" among the playing staff. Tony Taggart is 14 months older.

So far there have been three confirmed departures; Olly Sprague, Joe Wright and Scott Shulton and the single confirmed addition in Mayowa Balogun.
I would expect once pre-season begins we'll get a better idea of who is still around and who might be added. Less than a month to wait now!
