Reasons to be cheerful ...

While accepting that this season will not live long in the memory, there are, I think, a number of reasons to be cheerful:

- our progress off the pitch has been excellent - we stand a good chance of being able to kick off next season at SJP,
- we've got Gary McCann and his management team
- we've made great progress with regard to our youth set-up in general and have registered no fewer than 6 of this season's under-18 squad for the first team squad
- we've got yet another London Senior Cup Final to look forward to
- we've got Big Dave who is about to achieve the massive milestone of 300 first-team appearances
- we've still got 3 games to avoid finishing in one of the relegation spots. They're all tough games but I'd rather be in our position than Farnborough's or Needham Market's
- most importantly of all, we've still got a team to support against all the odds and after 7 years of being homeless.

See you on Saturday.

Simon

Got to agree with everything. Saturday 27 September 2008 – almost eight years ago – was one of the bleakest days I can recall. Here’s hoping that early August 2016 will be cause for huge celebration as SJP becomes our new home.

I must be honest, I did not expect that day ever to arrive and I didn’t think we would still be playing in the Ryman League Premier Division as Hendon FC in 2016. The work done by Simon and the rest of the HFC Trust board in keeping the club alive, and by Gary and the players for remaining at the same level of the Pyramid (and with a little bit of luck last May it might have been at a higher level too) cannot be exaggerated. They have been phenomenal achievements by one and all.

For, hopefully, one last time as the home team at Earlsmead tomorrow, “COME ON YOU GREENS!!!!”

Spot on Chaps. I've not been to a game now for many years but Hendon FC will never leave my thoughts. It will stay with me always.
