Lewes pre-match meet up

I am a Hendon exile living in Brighton & was around a bit last season (bloody glory hunter!) It's always good to meet a few Hendon faces for a pint before the game.
The King's Head is very decent, pours a good pint of ale & is close to station & ground. It's at 9 Southover High St, Lewes BN7 1HS Turn left out of the station & it's only a few hundred yards. Don't ask for the High St as there is more than one & you will get misdirected.
Any takers?

There's a real ale festival in the Lewes Social Club Saturday - or rather what's left from Friday!
I love the look of the Lewes pub layout - 20 pubs in half a mile from the station - but they all look like gastro efforts - a sign of the times! Last pint and a bag of nuts cost me nearly a fiver - I rarely touch the stuff and stick to pop!
I drink in what is known locally as the "Oakengates Triangle" 3 pubs within 50 yards - no meals - a tad run down - just real ale, and a lot of it! The Station Inn has 15 hand pumps, The Fighting Cocks next door, a modest ten. The product is imported via Sheffield, Lancashire, Derbyshire and local Shropshire Micro's. All for around £2.80 a pint!
With no decent pub near Earlsmead, I am seriously hoping for something near SJP. Not holding my breath!
Hoping the the Harvey's lives upto expectation on Saturday!

Been in two minds about going, struggling health wise at the moment and the trek across London for the train is a bit of a challenge. Also, not impressed with Lewes' pricing.
Having seen that there is a coach running (from Harrow) I have been looking on line for somewhere to kill the time between arrival and kick off.
The Kings Head looks good, should be able to get a good meal. The only danger is if I get the taste of the beer I might struggle to make kick off.
Gonna book my place on the coach now, and look forward to seeing you on Saturday.

Lewes is the county town of Sussex, all very medieval through Georgian & Victorian. It's the home of the Sussex University cognoscenti & the famous Harvey's brewery - winner of CAMRA's champion best bitter three years on the trot. The King's Head is a freehouse I believe & often supplies the sublime Dark Star Hophead (Horsham). I can't pretend you'll get much change out of £4 / pint but it's got more style than Wetherspoons.
I'll be wearing the famous green & white & likely carrying a walking stick. Looking forward to seeing you there.

My favourite away day of the season, gutted they look like they're going down, smashing drinking town, and they let you take your pint onto the terraces as well. That all said, it's County darts weekend so I can't go :(
