2.30pm Inspection at Brentwood

There will be an inspection at Brentwood at 2.30pm today.
As soon as the results are known, various media outlets (probably not including Sky Sports News) will be updated.

This is getting beyond a joke, it's barely rained since the weekend!
GAME OFF Let he who is guiltless, cast ...

We have been in this particular boat far too many times to splash others.
Brentwood were confident their pitch would be passed playable; the referee thought otherwise. They still have 20 games to play in the last 12 weeks of the season. A few years ago, we would have thought that was a luxury; in 2001 we tried to fit in 17 matches in 34 days between 2 April and 5 May.

I admit that I have never been to Brentwood fc and have no idea what state their pitch was in today. However, the facts are that Brentwood were confident of the match going ahead, the weather was dry, sunny and windy; in other words there was no possibility of the pitch deteriorating. So the postponement does seem puzzling. I also find it hard to believe that conditions would have been worse than in our home game against Wingate and Finchley! But maybe I am wrong.
There may have been a "silver lining" to balance the disappointment of January's postponements by getting injured and suspended players back, but now with only 2 competitive games in 6 weeks, it must be stretching everyone's patience. Another thought - Isn't it time that ground grading criteria also took into account playing surfaces?

According to the Brentwood Twitter feed, when the inspection took place (it was hoped to be precautionary), the referee deemed one small section to be unplayable. Frustrating, but unavoidable and part of the game at our level. We had exactly the same issue at Earlsmead for the Lewes game, same issue at Vale Farm against Tonbridge or Hastings and the same issue at Claremont Road once against Slough, where even the efforts of supporters and players from both sides alike were in vain.

Probably another case of health and safety gone mad.To enhance player safety the pitch is unplayable due to a small muddy patch. So we will play umpteen games in a short amount of days on a rock hard surface with many areas of the pitch have no grass on them.Roll on silver jubilee park At least we know our home games will be played.

Agree completely.
Although both clubs might be suffering as a result now, it was refreshing to see our game against Wingate get the go-ahead when nine times out of ten, it would have been postponed.
