My favourite match of 2015

26th March v Corinthian Casuals London Senior Cup.
An historic night with our first competitive match at SJP. A great atmosphere with a good crowd matched by an excellent performance on the pitch.

Both the home league games against Margate and Maidstone are strong candidates but on the grounds we didn't actually turn many sides over, I would go for the FA cup game against Leiston.

I have an early contender for favourite match of 2016 .....

So many fantastic matches to choose from but I'm going for Hendon 2 Maidstone 1, a great comeback in front of a massive crowd.

A lot to choose from, the madness at Margate would have been my pick had we won, but 4-4 felt like a missed opportunity, similarly Dulwich two days later had we held on with ten men, but my pick has to be the League Cup final win against Grays at Whyteleafe, a really good game with excellent performances by all, particularly Kezie, Andre and Ben in goal, and even though some view the "minor" cups as more distraction than they're worth, I've always thought of any silverware as a measure of success.

All of the above mentioned were superb. The Grays final at Whytleafe gets my vote though. Great to see so many players turn it on in a final and there was the late drama as we hung on.

Paul, Margate away, the anticipation - and I wasn't there!
I honestly felt the winners of that could win the league. So close, no cigar. A catalyst for an unbeaten run which encompassed two cup finals and the play-off finals. What an effort by the lads against a very strong, powerful unit. I recall my emotions as the twitter feeds were updated.
As for my own choice - I would have to choose the Gaffers testimonial. Not just based on the occasion, but equally so not being personally able to get to many night fixtures. Half expecting a pre-season jolly as is often the event the game proved to a real humdinger. A more than fitting tribute to Gary.
A real purposeful demonstration by predominately young players given an occasion to showcase their talents.
You could see the desire in the lads in the performance. The sheer mental strength was evident. Everything that football should be about was displayed in the heart of the combatants that night.

Needham Market away in August was the most complete team performance I saw in 2015. We dominated procession and the 3-0 score line should have been a lot more. It was a blisteringly hit day but it didn't effect our energy levels.

I have to agree with Simon; the Maidstone win, when our opponents had the opportunity to all but clinch the title with 3 points and we then turned the tables to put Hendon in pole position was so memorable. As with others, I could not see every match, but have to say that our very late comeback at Met Police to win the London Senior Cup in extra time nudged the Maidstone match very close.

Leiston on the FA Cup was an excellent display but I remember it as the green demons ( Hendon Yth Players) thought we were beating Leicester

Was that Leiston game not in 2014 though?

Certainly was, Paul, yes.
Many standout matches from 2015 - Casuals (H) League Cup Final, Maidstone (H), Needham Market (A).
However, my favourite was one we lost. Dulwich away this season. Entertaining game, big crowd, friendly atmosphere, great company, but most importantly a performance against a side I thought better than any I saw last season, that gave me hope that we could overcome our travails this season following some absolutely rank efforts. Little did I know there would be other shockers ahead, but for a blissful few days, I was quite content.

Actually, missing from that little list above was was the League Cup Semi final against Margate.
Although a 'weakened' side I would imagine their XI that evening was still being paid three or four times what ours was - the referee disallowed a perfectly good Braithwaite goal in the second half and seemed to be giving everything their way.
Then, midway through the second half, Peter Dean dived to win a free kick and things seemed to turn. Braithwaite powered home another header and we had a cup final to look forward to.
Not only a cup final, but a cup final in a competition we've had next to no success in during my 20 years of watching Hendon. And what a fantastic evening that turned out to be.
