Scrappy - but 100% effort

I think it's fair to say that was a scrappy and niggly game last night - but our workrate and effort was absolutely top notch - particularly in the second half when we were down to ten men.
There's no doubt that the squad, even the new boys, are determined to continue the excellent work from last season, and it's performances like last night that will go a long way to determining where we finish at the end of the season.
Not going to lay into Aaron - I'm sure he knows he was silly. Didn't see the incident myself, just the Enfield 4 falling on the floor like a sack of potatoes, but from his reaction, and that of the rest of the players, suggests that he did do something. As long as he learns and doesn't do it again.
I thought Luke Tingey and Ryan Wharton were superb at the back, especially given they only met for the first time a few days ago.
Tough game again Saturday - but go into the game with the same attitude and application, and we shouldn't go too far wrong.

Agree with the second paragraph one hundred per cent. I wasn't present so I may have to tread carefully.
Emotionally, upon hearing the details of the dismissal - to be honest I was fuming. Azza has had the odd balmy sending off. Dulwich in the London Senior and away at Sutton in the last minute spring to mind. He has to learn and be mindful of the repercussions on the team. Come the close, it took the gloss off what was clearly another highly determined and efficient performance. Whilst on the subject we have adopted a penchant for remonstrating with the Ref a bit - I don't like to see that either.
Last Saturday the Enfield gaffer gave his side a dressing down for a lack of creativity and firepower a trait which may have contributed to our cause. Taking nothing away from the lads for another work-man-like effort.
Let's send a message out to the league on Saturday, whatever the result, that by means of our performance, we are genuine contenders. Either way we have the satisfaction of knowing the best is yet to come.
What a great set of lads we have got.

A typical early season encounter....frenetic, full of enthusiasm and devoid of any pattern. Given our league record against Enfield, last night's result must be seen as fantastic (especially when the other factors are thrown in). My pick was Dave, who despite an early booking for a crude challenge, kept himself in check without detracting from a huge defensive performance. We are very lucky to have such a genuine team-player in our ranks.
I agree 100% that we've got to simmer down a bit on the refs. Long term it's not going to do us any favours with them...because they have LONG memories when it comes to that sort of thing. Also, it lacks class.
Generally things need to settle down a bit. We need the missing players back and we need to be able to settle on a hardcore of key starters. I suspect however that it may be a while longer before we see this as I understand we now have more players going away on hols. This makes Aaron's red card even more frustrating...especially as he has been shaping up very nicely in recent times.
So, message to Aaron....please try not to do it again. Gary and the boys need you and we fans really love watching you play!
