Historic Night

Our first outing at SJP. An appropriate moment for reflection and to say thank you for to all of whom have played their part in the maintaining this truly remarkable club.
A very special night for Simon and the directors all of whom are long-standing and shown tremendous loyalty and integrity through what must have been unimaginable upheaval. The timely introduction of Rob Morris and the move to SJP is almost preordained. The cards have fallen into place which makes this season's efforts on the pitch even more gratifying.
It's a reflection of everybody's determination from top to bottom that is reflected throughout our club.
Hendon are unique, somebody should stick a preservation order on us!
As for the gaffer - he should soon be off the tailors for a fitting - that's if the Ryman League can finally wake-up to his achievements.
Well done tonight chaps - this is where the rubber hits the tracks.
P.S. Great attendance tonight.

It was a wonderful night for everyone involved with Hendon FC. To see so many fans at the ground in such good spirits and for the team to put on a great display made it magical. There are still many hurdles to face before we are able to call it our home. The planning application is now going to committee at a date still to be confirmed. Until we get consent I can't give an approximate date of when works can commence. People behind the scenes are working tirelessly to achieve our ultimate goal and I will keep updating everyone with the latest developments.

Crowd was amazing. Not sure if it was the novelty value of the match but it would be good to see crowds of that size and bigger at future SJP games.
Let's hope the Kevin Costner maxim holds true "If you build it they will come."

There was definitely a degree of novelty value....I met a few ground-hoppers and indeed Edgware fans. BUT it was clear to see the potential for growth. Now we're probably not talking the sort of fan growth that Dulwich Hamlet have had over the last two seasons but we could see us stick another 100 on our current average for starters. Our new marketing team will have a huge role to play in that regard.
The night itself was memorable and was something for the fans who have stuck with it for years, to cherish. To see so many youngsters enjoying themselves was another huge plus point....as was the packed bar at half-time!!
On the field, Casuals gave a really decent account of themselves but were eventually worn down by possession football. Their goalkeeper, Danny Bracken, deserves a special mention, for not only playing really well but fully entering into the spirit of the occasion. He is a lad that clearly epitomises The Corinthian Spirit.
The result and performance aside, probably the most pleasing aspect was Leon Smith getting a goal. He is going to be vital in the run-in and to get all three strikers on the score-sheet was perfect.
