Guess The Attendance on Saturday
Views: 4844
Right one and all. The big promoted game vs Finchley & Wingate is fast approaching. Like many others who have put in a fair bit of effort to get this game advertised via various sources, I've been asked on many occasion " What do you think the attendance will be"?
Truthfully, i've got no idea but anything less than 600 will be very disappointing. But on the other hand I think we could be very surprised.
I'm going to sit on the fence and say 852.
What do you think ???

It's nice to see some optimism and I really hope your forecast is near the mark. However, I will be pleasantly surprised if we get half that figure.
Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year to all players, management and supporters

I will also be pleasantly suprised to get more hta n half that figure, particularly as the wether forecast for Saturday is not good - wet, cold and high winds. Keep fingers crossed for a good turn out.

Weather forecast a lot better for tomorrow now - lots of rain/sleet overnight tonight but clear and very cold tomorrow - could be worth setting up a 'hot toddy' stall - can imagine there being a lot of takers.

I'm travelling up tomorrow but just got back in from the Dorchester v Weymouth game in heavy rain through out and it's heading up your way from the west. Really hope the game beats the elements. #greenarmy

Dorset Don....been a lot of rain over-night but pretty clear here now. Don't know if a pitch inspection is planned or necessary.
cheers for the update.

It's sunny and clear in Bournemouth this morning but given the volume of overnight rain I'm still waiting patiently to hear if an inspection is planned. If not will be setting off about midday

How was Dorchester v Weymouth? Quite a bit of history between those two!

It was a typical derby played in front of 1600 on an absolute bog of a pitch. 3-0 win for Weymouth with two penalties and a punch up in the bar afterwards
. No love lost between those two clubs.

Blimey. Mind you...they'd probably all been on the Cheddar Valley cider.
Bizarre Day....

3 points yes but something didn't feel quite right about that today.
Ref's performance was odd. The second penalty decision was nonsense and Hendon almost looked embarrassed to take it. Thankfully the Wingate keeper saved it.
The episode in the bar afterwards didn't help either. My first time mates want to know whether it's like that every week at Hendon....
Thank You

Dead man. Don't know what happened in the bar afterwards. So cannot comment. Supporting Hendon is a roller coaster. Ups, downs and the adrenaline is always pumping.
Thank you to James Furness for his graphics, time, effort and contacts. Thank you to John Rogers, Simon Lawrence, Rob Morris and everyone who tweeted and posted to increase the crowd today. A lot of hard work went into marketing the game. A lot of hard work from a small group of people. It is always a small group of people. If more Hendon 'fans' got involved we can achieve so much more. It would not involve you doing a huge amount of work but it could make all the difference. We send you a graphic and you post on Twitter, Facebook, other social media or email it to your friends and family. If you are a Hendon fan surely that one little act is not too much to ask is it? Please help your club spread the word.
today's game

Really enjoyed this afternoon. An eventful game which typified football at this level. Some good football and goals from both sides on a sticky surface. Some strange refereeing but Wingate don't help themselves with their 'in your face' attitude and I got the feeling that the ref just grew tired of the incessant appealing. Great three points for the greens and was good to see so many old faces. Onwards and upwards.

Not the Irish Republican Army - but the Green Army. Special shout out to Eddie Edwards. Missed half the match raising funds for the club throughout proceedings. Respect is due.
For me that was our best performance this season. Ref stuff and Wingate aside, we displayed real cohesion underpinned on a back-drop of real team desire.
That lad Ibe demonstrated everything you require in a team. His control was sublime. The role of Lee. That lad played in a vertual tramline, defending and attacking in a channel. His mere presence in one of the goals led to its implementation. It's clever and yet subtle stuff, underpinned by hard graft.
We showed real cohesion in a derby game, at Christmas, on an un-favaourable playing surface.
Their lack of discipline stemmed from our overriding strengths.
Past derby games have shown volatile results - today at least showed that we have the promise to rise above such in-differance. That for me is a seismic shift.
Today, for me personally was a day to recognise and appreciate everything what is going on, on and off the field. There's a lot to be very proud of.
Hendon football club has carried its-self off with a great deal of distinction.
