Two points dropped

Very poor today, referee was awful as usual but that's not an excuse, he eventually sent their 4 off for his constant holding and shirt swapping attempts on Kezie, but it was too late. Absolutely sleeping for their early goal, Leon did very well with his goal and had a couple of other chances, one of very few players to get pass marks from me today. Three hard games coming up against better opposition than that shower, who I reckon will be relegated by the end of March.

We weren't at our best today, but VCD were markedly better than they were in the first game against us in August. They were too lightweight there, something they have improved on since. I actually thought they played well and contributed to an entertaining even affair. The game could easily have gone either way in the final 20 minutes or so. It looked an absolute stonewall penalty late on when their 11 was cleaned out in the box.
Two really big away matches coming up. Leiston are likely to be a different proposition at home to the one we dispatched with ease in the FA Cup. That said, there's no reason for us to fear them, or Maidstone.

Despite the umpteen chances we created and inexplicably put wide. our keeper was much the busier of the two. I was too far away to comment on VCD's penalty shout but think 1-1 was a fair result. Our lack of goals over the last month is very worrying. Let's hope the Greens can come good again in this week's horrendously difficult games.

I also felt that VCD were a good deal better than relegation certainties. Someone has to go down, yes, but they tested the Hendon rearguard more than most opponents I have seen this season and VCD were very lively in the last fifteen minutes. It seemed that a few Hendon players were just below their best form. There was plenty of character and effort throughout the first half leading to a deserved equaliser after the very early setback. Remember the Lewes game - everyone goes home happy; but if there had not been a late winner…..
Let us all give the team encouragement and avoid criticising individual players vocally when they are doing their best.
