The pitch inspection will be at 12.30pm tomorrow (Friday).

I fully expect to be putting the postponement notice on the website once Graham or I have heard from our contact at Lewes.

Lewes pitch

The pitch has extraordinarily passed today's inspection!
Given the picture taken of it at 4pm yesterday and posted on the Lewes Twitter feed - @Lewes_cfc - that's incredible.
However, given the forecast for eight or ten hours of heavy rain in Sussex tonight, they'll be inspecting again - and almost certainly calling the game off - at 9am tomorrow morning.

Don't believe it...
That's a right pain for me - means for the second week running, I have to travel to at least London, (having purchased tickets) - just to presumably come back again. It's utterly soul destroying - considering whether to bother. Can't just turn around at Marylebone and come back at my leisure as my tickets specify return train times. If I go to London and its off - I then have to amuse myself for a mere eight hours before I can set back. The forecast looks utterly awful.
Obviously can't be helped - but I didn't expect that decision.

I don't think any of us expected that decision, least of all Lewes when they arranged the inspection, and I did think of you when I got the call a bit earlier.

I guess the fact that they are on chalk must help the drainage considerably given the change from 4pm yesterday.

You have a similar problem right?

Hiya Steve,

I also thought of you - I would imagine you too could be pushed for time. I have an additional problem in-some-much-as my planned train for Brighton leaves Victoria at 10.17! That means I would have to travel to at least Victoria, with a slight chance of still not knowing the outcome - at which point I would just shoot myself!
All good fun.

I'm fortunate in that the trains from Luton go direct to Brighton and take less than two hours.

I can get the same train that I usually get when I go to Earlsmead on a Saturday - and arrive at Lewes in time for kick off, so I'm not too badly off.
