Question for our Stattos
Views: 4222
In 1973/4 Hendon won the MSC beating Edgware 3 - 1. Can anyone tell me if this game was played at Harrow's ground please?

No - it was a 2 legged final.
First leg was at Claremont Road (we won 3-1) and the second leg was at the White Lion Ground (we won 1-0 - thus 4-1 on aggregate)

Thank you Steve. My first game was a game we won 3 -1 and I remember us getting a cup at the end of the game. It was played at Harrow. Would have been between 73 and 76 I think. Will keep looking then.

We won the League Cup Final (yes we did do well in it once or twice!) at Harrow in 1977 - but that was a 1-0 win over Barking.
We did win the Middlesex Charity Cup Final at Earlsmead in May 1979 - and that was a 3-1 win over Harrow.

That must be it. My first game. I was older than I thought. I remember my uncle asking Len Burt to predict the score. When he got it right I was astounded.
Thank you Steve. Solved an old mystery.

I did not know that your uncle was Len Burt. What a lovely man he was, an absolute true gentleman.
Secondly, your first game was a cup final.....????? You bloody glory hunter!!

My uncle 'asked' Len Burt it says.
This was in the days of hooligans. So my folks were reluctant to let me go. Unc had to fight to get permission to take me. Cup final added to the argument. Coupled with the fact Borough's ground was over the back of our house.
Apols.
