Best performance of the season - but no win

I thought we were superb today, Junior's workrate, Jefferson's superb finish, Kevin's energy in the midfield, Dave never stopped running out wide, but again we failed to win.

Lewes are the best side I've seen so far, it's obvious why they don't concede many, while very physical their defence looks very solid, and I'd have taken a draw before hand, or even at half time, but to concede a sloppy goal late on sticks in the throat, just as it did last Saturday in a game we should have won. Tough one next up at Lowestoft, I'd be delighted with a point there, then a must win game against Borough before the FA Cup starts.

I think so. I think we made Dulwich look a lot better than they actually are, and given a proper test, they will be much weaker defensively than Lewes.

I'd concur with Paul there - it was our best all round performance of the season - and Lewes still looked a good side, particularly at the back. Lewes are a better all round side than Dulwich. If Dulwich are reliant on their pace that they used against us, I think they'll come unstuck when the pitches get heavier later in the season. If Lewes don't have any injury problems - they won't concede many goals this season.

I am not sure that we were not better at Thamesmead on the opening day. Berkley did not have to make a save in 90 minutes in that game. Admittedly they did hit the post and miss with a few chances, but we could have scored six or seven in the end, and we reduced Mead to a broken, dispirited bunch in the final 15 or so minutes.

I think a quick look at Thamesmead's results since then says to me that that particular Saturday was a better indication of how bad they are rather than how good we were.
