League Allocations Meeting Today.
In the week of the 6th anniversary of Mike Appleby's death, the grapevine suggests the FA's Leagues Allocation Committee are meeting at this very moment. It still doesn't seem right that anyone other than Mike Appleby is overseeing it.
There looks to be an 80%+ chance that Hendon will be remaining in the Isthmian South Central.
There is still one wildcard to consider. The delayed Guernsey v Peacehaven & Telscombe play-off final, which was supposed to be played last Saturday, has now been rescheduled for May 23rd. Guernsey have regained home advantage, after the Blazers at the Southern Counties League (still the Sussex League to me) had initially ordered Les Petites Grenouilles to travel to the mainland tomorrow. Peacehaven couldn't get to Guernsey over the weekend, as all flights were close to fully booked for the island's Liberation Day holiday.
A Peacehaven win will presumably see them promoted to Isthmian South East. A Guernsey win might see them coming up to Isthmian South Central. The Blazers seemingly do not want Jersey & Guernsey in the same division: not so much a case similar to UEFA keeping Serbia v Albania off the schedule; more clubs not wanting two League trips to the Channel Islands.
Guernsey would be a nice day out for those who can afford it.
Allocations are not usually released until the end of the week of the meeting. This allows whinges to be rejected and allows unhappy clubs time to draft sufficiently pompous press statements. They should be out by Friday.
