I have just learned that former Hendon player and Stevenage Borough legend Martin Gittings has died at the age of 61. “Gitts” was a late-season loan signing by Mick Browne on transfer deadline day in 1995. He made his debut in a 0–0 draw at the Alfred Davis Memorial Ground, Marlow, on All Fools Day and went on to play in 10 of Hendon’s last 11 matches, all Isthmian League, scoring five times.
