I am sorry if I was short with anyone on Tuesday night when they asked me who we were going to play in the quarter-finals – this before the final whistle. I am superstitious about counting chickens before they are hatched and don’t talk about future cup opponents because it might jinx us and we don’t need any more bad luck.

As it turns out, for some reason, the Middlesex FA did the draw only for the first two rounds and not the whole competition, as they have done for a number of years, and I don’t know when the draw will be made.

The important thing is that we did make it into the quarter-finals which means we will have at least one cup-tie (hopefully three) in the first half of 2017.
