Dorchester 0-3 Hendon

That game encapsulated much of the first couple of months of our season.

Dorchester were on top for the first 20-25 minutes, failed to make their chances count when the better side and made to pay by a ruthless opposition after the break.

Rihards made a superb double save (well, triple, but was prone on the floor when the third effort hit him) and we were indebted to the crossbar too. After the break, and especially once Tommy Brewer opened the scoring there only really looked like one winner.

The third goal was the icing on the cake, lovely move, delicious cross by Luca Allinson and Simeon finished it off. I know it's been said 100 times already in the last month, but that boy is some player. Aside from a booking for a shirt tug, he was immaculate once again.

Six on the spin, 12th in the table and four really big tests as to where we are as a side to come in the next three weeks. The atmosphere behind the goal was amazing, having the players come and shake the fans hands again was well received. My son was absolutely buzzing on the way home.

And a Twitter interaction with one of my all-time Hendon heroes too. A good day.

Great post John.

The first half had a bit of ?After the Lord Mayor?s Show? about it but I thought we absolutely dominated the second half and could have won by more than just the three goals.

Great to ?see? Whits on Twitter - I thought Joe White was Whitmarsh-esque against Met Police and have seen him in that light ever since.

The Manager summed the game up well in his interview. Completely agree with him about our midfield; not quite at it 1st half but bang on 2nd half, with Solomon Sambou being a stand out performer.

We also tightened up at the back and stopped Dorchester getting more of those dangerous right-wing crosses in.

Everyone put in a good shift and our subs made a positive impact too. Eddie Oshodi and Tommy Brewer took care of things nicely, with Tommy starting a lot of moves with good passes out. Shaun Lucien didn't have his best game but pinned Dorchester back with good possession and hard running. Simeon Olarerin had that little bit of something extra when taking on his man, Liam Brooks was a positive pest for 90 mins and finally, special word to Rihards Matrevics ...not just for the brilliant saves but for all those crosses he caught so comfortably.

Yesterday was always going to be the banana skin, going to the bottom club who had nothing to lose and with the team of the month curse getting a win was a pretty good result.
Looking forward to Hayes
