Enjoyed the game. Neither side looked quite as strong as they did in last season's fixture but again this was an even contest that I thought we shaded.

Gary rang the changes after Saturday's defeat and got the right reaction. The team shape looked a lot better with Big Dave giving us a decent base in midfield in a 4-3-3.

Our forwards showed pace and Karl Oliyide gave their left-back a proper chasing. I seem to remember he did the same to us for the early part of last season's trip to Wingate and the 4-3-3 formation suited him perfectly.

There were lots of solid performances with no-one having a bad game but Finbarr Robins had a spell in the 2nd half when it looked like he was taking control. He looked very strong.

The league has a strong feel to it this season and we will have to play at the top of our game to make an impression. We'll also need to close out games like this one, if we are to challenge the higher spots.

Hopefully that signals the end of the 3 at the back experiment...

I've never seen us give away so many soft free-kicks. Not surprisingly one such error contributed to their goal. Officials have to show some intelligence. Players are going down on the initial impression of contact. Again to a lesser degree we have played into the oppositions strengths. Much better performance. I thought Casey was hard-working. The lad Lee looked more settled. Both teams lacked penetration in the heart of midfield.
Once the lads get fully in their stride - we're in business.

Watching the highlights, I thought we definitely had the better of what chances there were. Rob Tolfrey made two excellent saves in quick succession from Binns and Robins, and the goal was excellent in build-up and execution. I didn't realise at the time how well Finbarr had manoeuvred himself to finish Binns' fiercely driven cross.

There was significant improvement throughout the team. The formation suited us much better, and Dave provided the protection in midfield that was so sorely lacking at the weekend. Going forward we carried more of a coherent threat, even if we didn't create masses of chances. Hopefully we can continue in similar vein on Saturday at Finchley.
