The highlight of yesterday's great win was surely the very impressive debut as a substitute of Goldy Capela. I realise that Goldy is a dual-registered player, and like some others I am never absolutely clear on the finer points of what that means as against loan players, but that should not take away from a cameo performance in which he never put a foot wrong, and not only helped to create and then score a crucial goal but also showed good aerial ability, pace, control and awareness. What a great performance by everyone yesterday.

Impressed also early doors with Maz and Sam in their efforts in closing down and forcing the issue. It is of course difficult to expect that level of persistence for a full ninety and clearly we have so much more to work on in midfield it really is imperative not to get carried away against weak opposition.
As for Goldy, what's not to like. Adds some versatility and strength - reminded me of a Elliott Charles type. A player that offers some different attributes and diversification. Amazing how the introduction of just one player can change the perception and dynamic.
Through our obvious need to re-model things, I percieve it as a way of further strengthening our squad and constantly evolving.

Only players who are not on contracts can be dual-registered. This is why you often find our fringe players getting games elsewhere. The only limitation is that you can only be registered with one club in any one league. Therefore as it stands Goldy cannot register for another Football League or Ryman League club, or for another South Eastern Counties League club as he's also registered for Erith & Belvedere. The vast majority of players at our level are non-contract. It is far more unusual in the pro game.
Contracted players can only be loaned out to one club at a time, and there are limitations on how long loans can be, but I'm not entirely sure what the rules are at the moment.
You can also get players registered on work experience terms - players we've had on those terms include the likes of Jack Connors. These are players who are on youth contracts with pro clubs, and these agreements can be for any length of time.
I've probably confused everyone even more now :)

We mustn't get carried away by Goldy's 20 minutes on Saturday - but what a great cameo it was! Let's hope that (a) he can perform well over a full 90 minutes and (b) that we can keep him. Seeing him plus a more determined performance from the team generally, albeit against poor opposition (their keeper excepted), was a real and much needed tonic. Keep up the good work.

Liked the look of Capela. He appeared very well balanced and pretty strong for a young lad. There was also something very natural about the way he found space in the box to slot home very calmly.

From the moment he stepped onto the pitch, he looked assured and comfortable.
The second goal was all about him, to be honest. Running from deep inside his own half with the ball to relieve the pressure, having the awareness to pick out a pass rather than run down a blind alley and then time his run to get onto the end of Aaron's cut-back was a cut above most of what we've seen so far this season.
Promising stuff, but let's not heap pressure onto his shoulders. Hopefully we can hold onto him for a little while and enjoy whatever he brings.

I'm in a daft mood. Football stuff aside - he look's like a right affable lad. Enjoys his game and plays with a smile on his face. It can actually help lift the dressing room. Supporters as well naturally build up players and respond to personalities.
Despite the fact he is probably from somewhere like Lewisham, I'm getting a Calypso vibe, (not to be confused with Calypso - the nymph in Greek mythology)!
We're one short hop away from wearing Hawaiian shirts and drinking cans of Lilt!
Nobody's even mentioned his pink boots!
Seriously, we've all been a bit down this season, it really is nice to have a smile back on everybody's face.
Let's work hard, enjoy it and get three points on Saturday.
