It was very nice of the football authorities, knowing about my Hongkong trip, to delay their decision until my return (tomorrow).
See you at Earlsmead for the (hopefully first) playoff!

It was NOT very nice of the football authorities, knowing about my Texas trip leaving this Wednesday, to delay their decision so that will have no chance of seeing play-offs.
Sadly, will not see you at Earlsmead for the (hopefully first) playoff (unless Enfield appeal against Mondays decision).

Hope this one goes against Enfield, as they will then re appeal - making it at least June before any resolution. The longer it goes, the more it's in our favour as they then surely must scrap the playoffs and promote 2nd. I honestly think we've played our last game of 2014-15.

I think we will be playing again this season.

Enfield released another statement this evening, which suggests they won't be taking things any further regardless of what the FA decide on Monday.

I would expect things to move rapidly once the FA announce the decision.

Just received a message saying that the FA legal department submitted further evidence to the appeal panel today. The result is that the panel WILL RECONVENE TOMORROW when a decision will be made.

Hope they actually make a decision before I make my next trip over from Australia!

All being well, I might make it over sometime In the 2017-18 season as hopefully a close relative of mine will turn 100 during that campaign.

I'm going away now - so the wise people at the FA and Isthmian League have my permission to delay any decision on play offs for 2 weeks by which time all the players will be on holiday and Paul Butlers prayers will be answered.

This is the most totally ridiculous farce ever come across and I really think the FA should recompense all who have suffered financially. After all, they can fine others for making mistakes - they should be fined themselves for their mistakes.

As an exceptionally loyal Hendonite, and through no fault of his own, its a real shame the likes of John Fordham are going to miss out on the play-offs. Utterly gut-wrenching for any supporters being placed in the predicament through the short notice. The only alternative a mid-week final next week. I wonder if the clubs were consulted prior to the confirmation of the dates?
Sure everybody is primed to go - pleased its been dropped on us 'quickly' less to mull over. Sure the lads have the correct mental acquiesce and stamina levels.
Happy to face the Police - could be a rip-snorter. Bring it on!
Thursday happens to be my birthday so no guesses what I want as a gift! Off to find another hotel!

Surely can't be given just two days notice though. I expect the semi finals to be this weekend (ironically while I'm at darts in Crawley) and the final to be next week sometime. I'm really past caring, and I know fans of Dulwich and Margate feel the same, Met Police don't even want to be in it (watch them win it now though) its a complete joke end to what should have been remembered as one of our best ever seasons.

I see some heavy rain is forecast for Thursday. It would be especially amusing if one of the semi-finals was called off due to waterlogging.

Anyone that follows me on Twitter should be able to find my thoughts on the scheduling of the games. I can understand a desire to get things resolved on the pitch asap, but come on, 48 hours notice? At least with cup replays, we can anticipate the possibility and put contingency plans in place. I already know of at least three of our matchday volunteers that won't be able to help on Thursday night.

Once again the Football Association shows absolutely no respect for the supporters, or clubs themselves.

Once again, this was all entirely unnecessary had the appeal decision been made on Friday, or even yesterday.

I would write and give the FA a piece of my mind, but there's absolutely no point. They simply don't give a damn.

What if ...

? the weather forecast proves to be accurate and the pitch either at Earlsmead (or at Margate for that matter) is waterlogged? The forecast as of 1630 on Tuesday is for about 14 hours of heavy rain starting at 0900 Thursday.

This leads to the following hypothetical questions:

1. If one game is called off, will the other one go too?
2. Will the postponed game be moved to the Friday, giving one team 50 per cent longer recovery time?
3. If both games are played, but the home finalist?s (hopefully Hendon) pitch has been destroyed, what happens if it fails a pitch inspection on Sunday morning?

We've all been moaning about the delay. Surely it was obvious that when the decision was finally made the games would be played very quickly. We could not realistically expect to be given much notice particularly when the final will be played more than 3 weeks after the league season ended. The main downside is that financially Hendon will probably make a loss on Thursday's game (as against the originally anticipated money spinner versus the well supported Enfield). It will be even worse, of course, if we lose against a team who amassed 20 points less than us.

It's a valid point you make, Mike, and well made.

I suppose my response was tempered largely with the frustration that I can't get there myself, and also that I have to organise manpower inside the next 24 hours. Not always the easiest of tasks.

As many will know I also support a very unfortunate team from the North East , bank robbers , ridiculous stadiums, in receivership x 2 or 3 but now hopefully on the way back . In their recent playoff games they had to split the gates 37% to each team with the remainder going to the league. On a total of gates just short of 4000 for both games I suspect the league picked up £5000+.

I would like to think that if the same rules apply in the Ryman League it would make sense that the League waive their share for all playoffs as a way of supporting their clubs or if they feel strongly enough they seek to get this covered by the FA for their tardiness and failings in executing their role in a diligent manner . Sadly it might make little difference to us , in view of the potential crowd in the first game , but might go a little way to helping the others and ourselves if we get through.. Perhaps the FA should at the very least cover the cost of the officials .

In order to defray costs, perhaps some significant compensation from the FA would be in order after the event, in recognition of these exceptional and unprecedented circumstances? I cannot make it on Thursday, but will hopefully be there on Sunday!

As nice as that would be, judging by a response the Dulwich Hamlet Supporters Trust received from the FA to a letter sent requesting some sort of compensation, all that we would be getting would be 'empathy' from our game's governing body.
