Margate - A vital point

A real roller-coaster of emotions.
That's a fantastic point - the past month most games have been settled by set-pieces.
Sam and Andre are up there with the likes of Maradona and Zico!
That point could prove to be pivotal in the final reckoning either for the title or home advantage in the final.
Well done to those of whom travelled.
A huge acknowledgement to Gary and the lads for what has clearly been a monumental physical shift.
It's all to play for and the lads have tonight sent out a message that we have what it takes.
Let's go!

As Rob says - a vital point. Congratulations to Gary and staff and the players for another moinumental performance - we just do not know when we are beaten. Congratulations also to those supporters who were there - I assume that you were as loud in your support as ever.
Although Maidstone are back in the box seat, any of their supporters at the match tonight must have gone home convinced that the title is going right down to the wire.
That is now just one defeat for us in the last eight league matches at Margate, with four wins and three draws.
Onward and upward - four matches for the title, even if we do now need help from elsewhere (Grays, Dulwich, East Thurrock - Maidstone's last three oipponents).

Just back from the game. Whilst we lead three times, I guess I feel satisfied at coming away with a point and the performance certainly didn't warrant a defeat. Margate were incredibly shaky at the back in the first half and the Sam Murphy free-kick was a case of everyone leaving it and it ending up in the net. They took their centre back off before half time.
In the second half it was us who looked shaky at the back and we didn't deal especially well with crosses (or stopping crosses). The own goal was a classic mix up....bouncing ball over the top...Ibe in hot pursuit....goalie rushing out....and retreating centre back heading it past him into an empty net. Andre's equaliser was a low grubber of a shot that seemed to catch everyone wrong footed and it went in at the near post.
Gary won't be happy with some of the defending but he will be pleased with the effort from everyone. Sam and Oli in particular had excellent games coming forward down our left side.
Lastly....the foul on Leo was a bad one. Could easily have done proper damage and could easily have been a red card. We missed Casey in the second half too. I hope he's not injured.
All in all, well worth the trip down and nice to see quite a few Hendon folks behind the goal and bouncing around when we scored. The Spanish (?) kids behind the goal were a good laugh too.....they were getting right into it!

The effort put in by the lads, considering the number of games played recently, was truly amazing and well worth a point. Even in the last minute of injury time, when Margate had a goal kick, Kezie was hurrying up their keeper by placing the ball for him obviously believing we could still win it.
Big matches for both Hendon and Maidstone coming up with both having to play play-off contenders Dulwich and Grays in next week or so.

I don't know too much about Margate but I was surprised their goalie ("Zlatan") who played in the recent cup match couldn't get a game ahead of last night's keeper.
That photo of Leo's leg on Twitter looks really nasty. I do hope he's alright.
Two questions...
Can anyone confirm how many matches Leo misses through suspension?
Does anyone know why Case went off last night? (currently he's one of our better bets for a goal from open play).

Can't help but feel gutted about last night. To lead three times and not win is a kick in the teeth.
For any neutral there last night, they certainly got their tenner's worth, cracking game.
However, I said after the Maidstone game that both sides will drop points so I stick by that, four wins and 99 points wins it with them on 98 after drawing with Grays or Dulwich. The next two Saturdays will be weird, watching our game while on the mobile updates from theirs. If Grays win on Saturday, happily hand them the League Cup in exchange for 3 points the following Saturday!!

Must have been an incredible game - I went through a shed load of differing emotions as the updates were coming in.
If we can finish second, which is probably the likeliest scenario (although given the results generally this season I would not put money on it), I believe we would have the chance of having both possible play off games at home.
However, mustn't start counting eggs yet as we first of all have 4 more very difficult games to come starting with Dulwich tomorrow when I think another large band of vocal and enthusiastic away fans can be expected. I thought our heavily outnumbered supporters gave excellent vocal encouragement against Maidstone last week - let's try and do even better tomorrow
