Must take issue with the contention that Dave Root was the guilty party in this game.
The finger of accusation must surely point at the referee and lineman. I'm surely not the only supporter who recalls that with the score at 2-2, Hendon scored a third goal. With the ball two feet over the line, the Bognor goal keeper clawed the ball back over the line but instead of awarding the goal the referee waived play on, allowing Bognor to breakaway, score and and win the game.
