I thought today was utterly damn fascinating. Usual friendly game stuff aside. The way we set up, Bally on the ball early doors. Northy all hand distribution first 45, all giving this fan the notion that Lee was in experimental/observational mode. Time to do it. But again it was for me the oppo making the thoughts on the way home post -match.
I was very impressed with their midfield movement, especially from the lad Laste. He seemingly has alongside players of whom enable him to manoevre whilst their play, something he lacked with a plethora of partners at SJP. They were very well drilled and clearly movement and lik-up play is more constructive. I do think as demonstrated so often as the game becomes stretched, we go long, and alow teams to break. Their midfield stuck to the tried and tested.
A word on the lad up top. He reminded me of the another ex-Green, Amartey. Not having his magnetic feet, but I felt similar style. That if any-where near accurate brings in another deluge of thoughts. I thought our style was altered to reflect that in supplying through balls. How that would potentially change the dynamic is another wait and see.
In summary, my main take-away - their midfield style inserted in ours - that's some dynamic. Plenty of different thoughts. All could prove to be a beneficial day out. Pretty sure Lee has some fascinating thoughts of how things are shaping up. I think it is really all quite promising. Now to de-frost!
