Expectation Gap

Just tuned into the Met gaffer's annual pre-season message. Interesting as always. Had to go in search of a couple of wide lads. Can't help thinking we have one or two outstanding similar questions. appear to be at a Their one acquisition, one Bilal Sayoud. The lad McVey gone to Walton. I do admire those lads down at the Met for their consistency. Not much appears to rock their boat. Interesting to see how they go this time out.
I've averaged the 5th place in the Southern over the past decade, adjusted for 42 games and come in at around the 70pt mark. From our stand-point that's a mark-up of an 18pt defacit. Sounds a lot - it is. Take the Met and Harrow, derby games last season, 0 points out of 12! Historically, around 50 percent return. That would leave around 12 points - 4 or 5 more wins at SJP hardly seems inconceivable on a good season. Hypothetical and perhaps completely devoid of reality, but equally I'm sure the management will have their own expectations/targets. My only concerns equate to what's carried over from last season. Wide midfield, confirmation of Shaq. I have many thoughts on that outcome - specifically the formation. Will either consoldiate personal thoughts - or confound them.
Pleased to see some ex-Stones on board. I think those lads probably exemplify the managers own traits. Great to see the midfield duo on board. Consolidation, in stark contrast to sitting at Uxbridge 12 months ago and entertaining thoughts we were more Ryman North than Conference South. I think this lad in charge is settling in and setting out his stall. Looking forward to the campaign - wishing James and the lads all the best. Enjoy.
