Danny Bonness aside, I couldn't see one department that looked especially functional yesterday. The defence was cut wide apart for each of the goals. The midfield lacked cohesion and didn't show any sustained physical presence (there's no Maclarens or Corcorans to win the ugly headers). The forwards looked decidedly weak and continually ran off-side.
The Met were no great shakes but it was telling that they still beat us 3-0 and only really conceded one clear scoring chance (at 0-1). Just as we were getting on top, we produce a woeful corner (try putting someone on the near post to at least cause confusion from the under-hit ccorners!!!!) and even more woeful set-up as Met countered.....0-2....game over.
Taking a look at the wider picture, it seems to me that Machete-gate has harmed us more than perhaps we thought it might.
