The League's decision doesn't set a precedent, dangerous or not, it follows a previously set precedent.
Somewhere in the original comments following the match Dave Ballheimer (I think) gave the example of Wingate & Finchley having five players dismissed, with the immediate abandonment of the match, and in due course the score at abandonment standing. There have also been previous examples of abandonment due to a mass confrontation, with the score at abandonment standing.
Surely what we want from the league in these situations, few as they may be over the years, is consistency, and that's exactly what we've got.
Whether we like it or not, and whether we feel we've been unfairly treated, is another matter entirely.
