In November 1960 we played Oxford United in the FA Cup. It was only the second tie the club had played as Oxford United, having changed their name from Headington United before the start of the 1960-61 season. We played out a 2-2 draw in front of 4500 at Claremont Road before losing the replay 3-2 at the Manor Ground, where 10,600 were in attendance. Oxford won the Southern League at the end of that season and repeated the feat a year later, after which they were elected to the Football League.
