One reason I gravitated to Hendon was due to the formulation of the APL in 1979. I have always held the view that this implementation proved the shift in power in non-league back to the south. Late 70's I thought the NPL & Trophy was a cut above in favour of the north. Different styles of play too boot. Maybe the north would provide a more lucrative option.
My local team Telford won the north last season. By all accounts it's a pale comparison to the south.
Worth talking into consideration.
